On Monday 18 March, 2002,  Mr. Zeljko Ivanovic will speak to the members and the guests of the Montenegro Forum UK about the choices Montenegrin government is facing with regard to the European Union option of ‘democratic Montenegro in a democratic Yugoslavia’ and its preferred option of holding a referendum on the status of Montenegro.

Mr. Ivanovic will update us on the recent developments in negotiations between the experts and political leaders of Montenegro and Serbia with the EU representatives and give us an overview of the positions of the key political parties in Montenegro on this issue.

Zeljko Ivanovic is one of the founders of independent journalism in Montenegro. He was an editor of ‘Krug’, the first independent political magazine in Montenegro. He than moved on to become a journalist, an editor and than a director of ‘Monitor.  From 1997 to 2000 Mr Ivanovic was a director of ‘Vijesti’, the first independent daily newspaper in Montenegro.

At present Mr. Ivanovic is a member of the Executive Board of ‘Vijesti’ and a director of ‘Antena M’ radio station.
